Music is an extraordinary subject which helps to mould learners into well-rounded young adults. Not only does it provide a creative outlet for them, but it also teaches them the value of discipline and hard work.
In performance, the social aspect of Music is key, and students learn the importance of team work in conjunction with individual input. Performing in groups with fellow students, and experiencing the social interaction which accompanies this are factors which persuade most learners to study Music. The desire to master a wonderful art form is also a strong motivator.
Learners may choose either isiXhosa or Afrikaans as their First Additional Language.
We offer tuition in 3 Arts, and learners choose 2 of these upon which to focus.

Students who would like to play woodwind or brass instruments, but who do not own their own, may hire the required instruments from the school. A small annual fee is charged.
We offer tuition on a all the major instruments, from to woodwinds to drums to strings. Vocal training is also available.
In addition to their solo work, learners have many opportunities to participate in our Hudson Park ensembles and choirs, which are popular guests on local programmes.
With a reputation in the local community and throughout the country as a fantastic centre for Music, Hudson Park has produced musicians of international calibre. They have gone on to build musical careers, both locally and internationally, as performers, recording artists, teachers, and mentors.
The school holds many awards from local and national eisteddfodau, and Hudsonians frequently reach the final rounds of national Music competitions.
Capacities related to communication, leadership, discipline, team work, self-confidence, independence, creativity, and social cohesion are all developed through participation in our Music programme.
Combined with musical talent, these qualities will contribute to success in the workplace, in roles such as performer, recording technician, philosopher, music psychologist, teacher, lecturer, composer, sound engineer, acoustic architect, and instrument repair technician.
