The Language Of Learning And Teaching
At Hudson Park, English Home Language is the LOLT (Language Of Learning and Teaching). This means that learners must have a good command of it, in order to progress in their other subjects.
Our aim is to ensure that our learners gain the required proficiency, and also that they develop a love for the subject that will take them to greater heights. Grammar is taught, and we introduce carefully chosen literature, short stories, poetry, plays, and films, through which the learners gain personal insights and also broaden their general knowledge.

Learners may choose either isiXhosa or Afrikaans as their First Additional Language.
CREATIVE ARTS
We offer tuition in 3 Arts, and learners choose 2 of these upon which to focus.

Extension And Support
Learners who excel are entered in the SACEE (South African Council for English Education) LANGUAGE TEST which takes place each year. They also write for the High School's magazine TENTRABIS.
Remedial English is given during class time and during one Assembly period each week by Ms Bedser. She ensures that basic skills are covered during these lessons.
